What was the project about ?

Familieløb was a project created with the purpose of bringing the community together in an event where everyone could take part, children, young, adults, old people… The main idea was to facilitate a frame where people could join and enjoy a day with their family and neighboors, and get some motion, music and fun.

It took place in Brenderup Højskole, the place where I am doing my volunteering.
It consisted in a Family race, with the option of 5km run or 3km walk. After that we all gathered together in the yard of the school to have some coffee, snacks and a live concert, with a band that played folk danish music.

The image below was the flyers and posters that were delivered around the town in different local stores and posted in social media to invite the neighboorhood.

We also created a Facebook event to share in social media

As you can see we got the local supermarket as a sponsor, they provided us water and sport drinks, fruts and musli bars to handle to the runners in the finish line, and coffe and soda to serve meanwhile we enjoy the concert. We also got sponsored by an other local store who provide chocolate and cake for everyone.
Finding sponsors was something that really add to the event and since Brenderup is a small town it was not difficult. Both stores were very willing to take part on the event.
I think that living in a small town was a very big advantage in this case, because it ´s a small community where people know eachother.

The day of the event – gallery view

Here you can see some pictures of the day of the event, we started with the race and after that we gather together in the yard of the school to drink some coffee and listen to music .

And of course I wouldn´t have been able to do all this by myself. The students helped me a lot, I made a list with the different tasks we needed to do in the day of the event, and how many people I would need for each of them, and the students sign up for the one they prefered. I was very lucky that I had a lot of people I could count with, because it would have been impossible to do it on my own.
