Hello there!
Welcome to DTU Student’s Culture Hub!
This is the ESC volunteering experience in Denmark, at one of the many organizations within DTU, called Student’s Culture Hub. This year for the first time DTU had welcomed 4 ESC volunteers instead of 2, so the way we work has changed quite significantly. Our ESC’s main goal has been to provide a diverse set of opportunities for DTU students to socialize, feel welcomed, boost understanding and celebrate diversity on campus, which we have worked towards during our year at DTU!
Starting our project in August, the first week we learned how to use Teams for project management and the way DTU and campus services function. Having this training early on helped us plan our events accordingly and realistically. We quickly started to plan and had some very successful events such as Danish Culture Night, Open Jam Stage, Murder Mystery, Dia de Muertos, DTU Comic Con, Beyond Romance, Unlocking Ramadan and Twilight Quiz Night! We actually organized many more, with some recurring events, but for the sake of this post I will keep the list with our most successful events. If you are curious about what these looked like feel free to check out DTU Student’s Culture Hub instagram page!
As you either already know or are about to learn, all ESC volunteers are supposed to have one ESC project. Mine was one of the events we had organized as Student’s Culture Hub called ‘DTU Worldwide Backyard Sports Championship’ that aimed to introduce backyard sports from different parts of the world and encourage friendly competition between students. We took backyard sports and childrens games from all around the globe and ordered the materials weeks before the event. We learned a lot about game/sports culture in different parts of the world and the event functioned as a way of socializing and boosting understanding through people teaching each other their games and having a fun backyard sports day.
Here are some pictures from the event:

Drawing closer and closer to the end of my ESC, I am glad I took this opportunity.
I learned a lot, made new friends, tried many new things and had a wonderful time in Denmark.
I hope you love your ESC as well 🙂
Have fun!
