The Last Goodbye

We are going to tell you the story of a night… Not an horrific night, not even a crasy night. Just a night full of friendship, adventures and emotions.
By Lena Dillinger and Nathan Clain ( ;

The origins

This event happend acutally 6 days before the end of the school we where volunteering in. The 6 last days out of 11 months of living in a community with teachers and students aged 16 to 19 years old. During the rush of the last week, between the last party of the school (the prom), the cleaning of the houses and rooms of the students, their last projects, their last classes, Lena and me thought we needed to give to them a cosy time when they can sit, talk and share a chill evening together. To give an evening when they have time to accept they will have to say goodbye soon to this adventure, to accept The Last Goodbye.
So we asked ourself : what could easily connect people and create one more memorable memory?
And we choose : music, games, bonfire and most of all… Marshmallows!!!
Then, we had a plan.

The plan

So their is our plan: using the shelters of the school as a camping area where we could play guitar, singing around a bonfire and eating marshamllows!
So we went down the city to buy enough marshmallows and some cookies, prepared a lot of tea, started a fire with two students and we brought the song books of the school with a guitar.
But the plan was more than that, you’ve just seen the entree… Because one thing made the evening a little more spicy… And it’s a game called weerwolf! But after a long game people are tired… And then comes the last part of our plan, the final surprise… We brought matresses and orgnized a small camping area in the shelter where people could sleep together in the nature AHAHAH!!!

The D-day!

The night began at 7.30PM. We met with 2 other students experimented in fire at 7PM to make it.

At first, one more student came at 7.30PM, and 2 others few minutes later, 3 others a bit later… They arrived small groups by small groups and we were around 15-20 people at the end!

They began by making their sticks for the marshamallows, sitting around the fire to talk and eat together, it was pretty cozy!

At one point, one student grabed the guitar and began to play some songs while most of the others grabed a song book to sing along.

After a lot of songs, the light began to became a bit darker and it was time for weerwolf…
It was really fun to look at everybody debate and argueing against each other! Most of the people defended themself really well!

After two games, it was pretty late and everybody began to be really sleepy. Most of the people didn’t have the courage to sleep outside infourtunatly, the ones who already had a big lake of sleep due to their will to don’t miss anything during the last days of school.
We were so only four survivors who wanted to enjoy the night under the stars. Everybofy took their warmer clothes and blankets, exchanges few words and fell asleep after one of those last nights we had to close this beautiful chapter which was this year together.

Difficult wake up…
