Felix’s Project

Hej. My name is Felix. I’m from Hamburg, Germany. I’ve taken part in the 2022-2023 ESC volunteering project in Denmark. 

My ESC project

I have spent one year as a volunteer at the Kalø Økologisk Landbrugsskole farm. It is a farm with different animals like cows, pigs and sheep. Next to the animals there is also a plant production for the farm shop and for the kitchen from the organic agricultural school, which belongs to the farm. You are living at the school with the student together. There are often activities form the students with you can join.

I was most of the time in the animal team, what means that I take care of the different animals. For example, in the summertime the bulls are on fields, so I was driving with the tractor to the fields to check if they have a nought grass and water. Otherwise it is also giving the animals straw and feeding. Next to the daily tasks there where jobs like repairing different stuff, fieldwork, helping the veggie team and a lot more thinks.

My project is to build a new shelf for our farm shop

I was planning and building a new shelf for the farm shop that we have more space for different products in our shop. I made a 3D model in SketchUp. Then I went shopping for all the wood and screws. Together with other workers and students I builded the shelf and painted the farmshop. After a few days of work, it was finished and we placed all our veggies and other products for selling on the shelf in the shop.
