Denmarkly

Hej, I am Clara and I did my ESC in Sankt Petri School and Sankt Petri Church in Copenhagen.

My solidarity project is a website I created named “Denmarkly”.

Why Denmarkly?

In the progress of finding a good solidarity project many ideas came to my mind, however most of them were not exactly feasible during a global pandemic.

My goal was to positively impact and support young people who come to Denmark, such as AFS volunteers, in a way that would not have a negative impact on the pandemic. With this website it is possible for former volunteers and people who have stayed in Denmark before to share their tipps and favorite spots all over Denmark with new volunteers in an easy way.

From the idea to the website

The first step to this website was narrowing all my ideas for the project down to find a realistic vision for the website. In this step I was supported a lot by my mentor.

After I came up with the name „Denmarkly“ I created an account and a domaine for the website. I used „padlet.com” to create a map of Denmark. Then I started gathering information about great places to visit in Denmark from local friends and other volunteers. After that I took my camera to the places in my reach to take some pictures for individual locations as well as for the general design of the website. Thus I was able to provide the locations with pictures and descriptions in the Padlet I created a page on the website to implement the Padlet. Followed by some creative design of the website, Denmarkly was ready to be launched.

Results & reflections

In the following pictures you can see how the website turned out.

I am very happy with the outcome of Denmarkly and also with the new skills I have learned.

In the process of my social project I have learned how much effort and work goes into just a few pages of a website. I am also very happy to now know a lot more about design, building a website and photography. Not to forget the favourite spots in Denmark of many of my friends I got to visit and the connections I made with people by talking about things they like.

In some way Denmarkly is a reflection of my own stay and time in Denmark.

Visit Denmarkly here!

Feel free to share your own locations in the Padlet!
