Hope is an action – blog for a greener future

What I created is a blog, which can be used by the school I have volunteered at to promote environmental awareness and a greener future. You can find it here: https://greentipsuhr.wixsite.com/greentipsuhr
Steps of my action plan
Step 1. Identifying the need/aim – Environmental awareness and sustainability
Step 2. Gathering information and specific needs – Getting the information out in a blog, categories, basics on what they want in it
Step 3. Dividing the task into smaller tasks – Finding and testing out platforms, learning how to use them, checking if it fits the users, outlay, gallery, creation of categories, elements needed
Step 4. Execution
Step 5. Testing again and again – test posts, pictures, testing it on phone and pc, getting users to operate it
Step 6. Adding more elements and solving problems that occured during the testing
Step 7. Teaching how to use to the user(s)
Step 8. Leaving them basic instruction for future users
Implementation of the plan
The school I volunteer at has at least 2 classes every semester, which are aimed at sustainability, foraging, building of a greener community and other topics that target similar areas. Some of the teachers are actively trying to get the information about their experiences and the projects they do with the students to as many people as they can, so I decided to put helping them to get the word out in the focus of my project, as what they are doing could help everyone on the planet.
I have identified my aim, so I started researching what could be the best tools for this and after talking with the people who will actively use what I make, we decided on a blog, as the students who will edit and write in it in the future can and will spread the word.
My next step was trying out multiple platforms, building the bare bones of what I wanted to make and checking which of them is the quickest to learn to use, so the teachers and the students won’t struggle with it in the future, when I am no longer around to help with it. This took me a long time, as I had no proficiency in this field before and I had to hop through quite a few sites to check out which functions can I have for free to not burden the teachers with unnecessary costs to their budget.
Some months and a lot of options, trials and errors later, I have found the site which I think will serve the goal the best. This was the Wix, where I have built the page, and in accordance with the classes I have helped in at the point, I have uploaded a couple of ’trial’ posts and pictures I took for this very reason. At this point, the students got involved too, and I had a couple more pictures and a post from them too.
When I was satisfied with the look of things I gave all the access information needed for the operation of the site to the teacher who will use the blog mainly in her teaching and projects with the students and I have shown her the ropes on how to use it to give her the needed proficiency to create blog posts in the finished page.
To double foolproof the plan, I made a short word document with a lot of pictures, focused on the creation of posts and gallery maintenance, which I also sent tot he teacher. After this, I concluded my project work done.
